  4. 1) Brasilia represents a perfet post-vargas symbol because it was becoming more modern. There was widely spaced apartment blocks and alot of original public buildings which made their architect the best well known Latin american architect of that time. The PRI was a perfect symbo for Mexico because because it stayed true to the Mexicans Revolutions's heroes and popular slogans.

3)The Us decided to tolerate the MNR because it was further away from us and the US business interests were less affected by MNR expropriations so the US decided to remain engaged with the MNR.
4)It was more marxism because they did let people like novelists, movie directors, poets, and singers epress there revolutionary views.

6)The part that reminded most of Nuetra America was when US and Latin Americs relationship began to crumble, like how the US kind of cheated Latin America. It reminded of the part " the battling comets in the heavens that go through the air devouring the sleepy world."

  10. Cuban Revolution:
revolutionary movement that began with the rebels who opposed the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. Today is also associated with historical period following his victory on January 1, 1959, by various insurgent forces, including broadly dominated rebel army, the armed wing of the July 26 Movement led by Fidel Castro. Fidel castro was inspired by the idealistic, mildly soicalist, and above all, keenly anti-imperialist. In 1953, shortly after ab elected Cuban government was overthrow by Bastista, the Castro brothers led a disastrous attack on the dictator's army. Fidel castro was inspired by the idealistic, mildly soicalist, and above all, keenly anti-imperialist.
Fidel Castro was close to the moscow-line Cuban Communist part. he never was a communist. the Cuban revolutionaries were being asked to betray everything they had fought for: to side with "economic imperialism" against the forces of "national liberation".Fidel and Che never even considered it.
the new Cuban army was a direct outgrowth of Castro's revolutionary army of 1956-1958 nad totally loyal to him and Cuban missile Crisis was one of the most dangerous moments in the cold war. Cuban trade with the rest of latin america was strangled thanks to the U.S. grip on the OAS. Cuba was expelled from the OAS despite the opposition of the lasgest Latin American countries. By the late 1960s, the Cuban Revolution had become a potent symbol for young people all over the hemisphere.

  12. We did not hand out liberation theology piece. Just know that Father Camilio from Colombia was a priest who believed in land reform, education for the peasants and improvement in the lives of workers. Reminds you of priests we studied in ILAS...who?
